Judith 13:1-20

Can I just be real with you for a minute?

I feel like this entire book would make a great movie. My heart was pounding furiously in this chapter!

From the moment Judith was alone with Holofernes in the bedchamber, to her prayer right before she beheaded him, andrunning in the night and returning to Bethulia, screaming at the watchmen to open the gates - I literally held my breath!

Absolutely fearless.

This woman - a wealthy widow who lived humbly and simply - single-handedly defeated the enemy!!

“The Lord has struck him down by the hand of a woman.”

Women have come a long way in society in regards to equality, but unfortunately, there are still areas in the world where women are treated as property, low-class citizens, denied education, etc. But that is the world, which will also fade along with its laws, kings and presidents.

We, on the other hand, serve a mighty God who strengthens and empowers ordinary women and uses them for His glory. You may be more like our Mother - reserved and prefer to treasure things in your heart - but let’s not forget Mary’s extraordinary, albeit quiet, role in the Church.

Or you may very well relate to the fearlessness of Judith - ready to take charge, defeat the enemy, and bring God glory. Either way, you are a daughter of the Most High King, and your role in building His Kingdom is as important as your existence.

There can never be another Judith. Only Judith could have defeated Holofernes at that particular moment in history. There can never be another you! Only you can do what God set out for you to do. In THIS lifetime.

I pray every moment of your life brings Him glory.

Peace be with you, my gorgeous faithful sister.
