Love is Here

The above scripture in my mind describes Mother Mary perfectly! All I see is her image on repeat when I read that verse. She is the perfect model of God’s goodness. Going beyond that for what it means for our lives though, I think it is how God is calling us to be. The other day while praying at Mass I thought about what God’s goodness really means. It means He loves us beyond any sacrifice we can ever imagine because His son made the ultimate sacrifice for us. The crucifix is unconditional love.
I have heard people describe that kind of love as romantic and I never understood that particular thought process, that God’s love can be romantic, but it made sense to me in that moment. Jesus gave up His life for each one of us,even if there were only you, Jesus would’ve died for just you. Isn’t that the be-all end-all kind of love we want?
No love on earth can ever compare to that, although we are called to live up to that kind of love in our daily lives. We are called to reflect that goodness in our daily lives whether it’s with our spouse, kids, immediate or extended family, neighbors, passing stranger, stray animal, school, work, any place or person we go to or meet in all we do!
The next time you receive the Eucharist think about that unconditional love, sacrifice, and goodness and really mean your “Amen”!
