Lord Jesus Christ, who are called the Prince of Peace, who are yourself our peace and reconciliation, who so often said, Peace to you & grant us peace. Make all men and women witnesses of truth, justice, and brotherly love. Banish from their hearts whatever might endanger peace. Enlighten our rulers that they may guarantee and defend the great gift of peace. May all peoples of the earth becomes as brothers and sisters. May longed-for peace blossom forth and reign always over us all. Amen Blessed John XXIII
Keep on doing the things that you have learned and received and heard and seen in me, and the God of peace will be with you Phillipians 4:9
My life has always been a constant conveyer belt that moves from one thing to the next. After high school I went straight into college where I took at least 20 credits worth of class each semester in order to graduate “on time”. Little did I know that once I was out of college I would be thrown into the working world completely clueless and at a loss of peace. I started to think, “How did I get here? I have always been doing what I thought I was supposed to do and now I am doing what society tells me what is the right thing to do.” For the life of me I couldn’t figure out why there was a lack of peace in my life.
It wasn’t until I slowed down, stopped looking toward the future, and started to look at my relationship with Christ that I started to feel peace.
You see, I have spent every moment of my life (short as it may be) always striving and looking toward the future and it wasn’t a problem until I stopped remaining in the present. The present is where Christ works in our lives and it is where we grow in relationship with Him. I have been able to find peace accepting the fact that I am called to remain present in each and every moment.
Yes, it is good to look to the future, but if we just keep on doing what we have learned and received then we will find a stronger relationship with Christ and in turn, peace.
