Ephesians 2:4

But God, who is rich in mercy, because of the great love he had for us,

First off, I want to define rich. Merriam-Webster dictionary defines it as:

1. having abundant possessions and especially material wealth

2. a :having high value or quality

b :well supplied or endowed <a city rich in traditions>

3.magnificently impressive

…. and the list continues on. I want to focus on the second though: having high value or quality. Our lives have high value and quality. We are valuable and worth something to the Lord. Before the Lord came along though, I am sorry to put it so bluntly, we were worthless. We didn’t have high value and our qualities were poor. We were living in sin, and when we live in sin, we are dead, we have no life, and we are away from God. Sin puts us so far away from God that we can’t live with Him. And when we aren’t living with the Lord, what are we living for?

But you see since we have been redeemed from our transgressions and sins, through confession and mass, we are now renewed in Christ. We share in One, Holy, Catholic, and Apostolic Church. And because we are to live these things out, we are a temple for the Lord. A dwelling place for Him.Living these things out. Allowing this temple to be built for Him. We are, therefore, very much alive in the Lord.

Why are we alive in the Lord? Because of His abundant love for us! And as I said yesterday, because He is merciful. Through His kindness, and through his slowness to anger… He is abundantly in love with us. Goodness gracious, He died for our sins… so that we might have life. So that we could be alive in Him. So that we could be a dwelling place of His love to share.

So, are you going to live in the state where you are stuck in sin and are in a place of death? Or are you gonna get yourselves to confession and to mass so that we can be alive in Him. Go. He is waiting, because He wants to dwell in the place you have prepared for Him.

Music artist Matt Maher has a phenomenal song titled "Alive in You". If you haven't heard it - or maybe it's already one of your favorites - we encourage you to take a listen as part of your reflection today.
