New Creation: Genesis 5-9 // Step Out of Your Comfort Zone

 Genesis 6:14-7:5

Step Out of Your Comfort Zone

Have you ever been called to do something out of your comfort zone?

When God calls us to do something, it’s usually something big, scary, and overwhelming. You’re not ready for this enormous change. In fact, you resist it (at first).

You freak out because:

1. you don’t know if you can do it

2. you fear failure

3. you don’t have all the resources

4. you doubt if you’re qualified

5. how are you supposed to afford it

6. who’s gonna show up

7. when are you going to find the time to do it

8. you don’t even know if it’s really the Holy Spirit speaking to you

9. HOW are you supposed to even make it work

10. and gosh, okay, a hundred other excuses!

This happens to me every.single.day. Instead of excitement, a flood of fears + doubts overwhelm my heart, and to be completely honest and vulnerable, I don’t even know why God chose ME.

Maybe you can relate.

But this is exactly what’s happening to Noah. God called his faithful servant to step way, waaaaaaaay out of his comfort zone. To risk failure, ridicule and gossip. To forget what the whole world thought of his crazy babbling.

To take a leap of faith instead and trust God.

You see, when God calls you to do something, the BIGGEST clue in knowing it’s Him (and not the work of the devil or pressure from society or anything else) is that — when you say YES, when you do YOUR part, when you get clear that you WANT to follow His Will — the rest becomes EASY.

The right people show up.

You get that “random” phone call.

You receive a package in the mail.

The EXACT amount of money that you needed — right down to the VERY cent — is somehow in your hands.

You open your email to incredible news.

You get that acceptance letter/job offer/etc, even though you submitted your application way past the deadline.

A generous friend or family member buys you that plane ticket.

WHATEVER it is, when you say YES to God and do YOUR part, the rest becomes easy. All your fears + doubts simply vanish.

BUT.

You have to do your part.

Whatever that means for you, God can’t MAKE you do it. All He’s asking is to step out of your comfort zone. You can SAY, “Yes, Lord, yes, Lord” all you want, but if  you never fully make that leap of faith, that doesn’t count.

You have to be ALL IN.

We see that in today’s passage. God asked Noah to build the ark, and Noah OBEYED. And God provided the EXACT measurements, materials, strength, and the means to do it.

So whatever God is calling you to do this New Year — maybe it’s moving to another state, going back to work or school, writing a book, exercising, or adopting — I know, I KNOW it’s scary and overwhelming. And you doubt yourself completely.

Pray about it. Ask if it IS His Will. Pray that the Lord will steady your heart as you take that leap of faith. Offer EVERYTHING up to Him.

Whatever God is calling you to do, I pray that you will say YES to Him. This New Year, join me in stepping out of our comfort zone and taking a HUGE leap of faith.

I’m here for you as a sister in Christ, with a burning desire to build His Kingdom. This fire that God placed in our hearts is His way of saying it’s done.

We just have to do our part.

Peace be with you, my gorgeous faithful sister.
