Luminous Mysteries...
The Luminous mysteries are also known as the mysteries of light. While praying them, we are called to be lights, to light up our paths and to light the paths of others in order to gain a deeper understanding of the Lord and our spiritual lives.
The Luminous Mysteries include the Baptism of Jesus, the wedding feast at Cana, the Proclamation of the Kingdom, the Transfiguration of Jesus and the Institution of the Eucharist.
The baptism in the Jordan, where Jesus and many others are baptized (Matthew 3:11-17), then the Wedding at Cana, where Mary is urgent with the Lord trying to get him to provide more wine, yet He provides when He knew the time was right (John 2:1-12). The Proclamation of the Kingdom of God is the third mystery of Light, and we are called through this mystery to repent and believe in the gospel, for the kingdom of God is at hand. (Mark 1:15), and the Transfiguration where the Lord’s face and clothing changed (Luke 9:29). Then last we have the Institution of the Eucharist, where at the Feast of Passover, Jesus knowing that his hour had come, that he would give Himself every time mass is said as a piece of bread and wine (John 6:22-71).
Through these in our stepping stones, when praying the rosary and reflecting on the Luminous mysteries we are called to be immersed in our faith, just as we were immersed at baptism. Also to not come running to the Lord saying, “Now, now, now! I need this now, but trusting in him knowing that He knows when the time is right for us. Just as Mary did with the wine at the wedding, but when Jesus said the time is not now, she made sure that the servants did whatever they were told, just as we should do whatever we are told, by the Lord.
Thirdly, we are called to repent, to go to confession, to ask forgiveness, to constantly look upon ourselves and our sins and repent. In Romans 6:23 we see, “for the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is Eternal Life.” If we stay in our sin, the result is death, but if we continue to repent we will Gain Eternal Life. The fourth mystery being the Transfiguration, if we fully immerse ourselves, repent, and wait on the Lord… we will be changed! Our faces will be different, the armor and clothing we put on everyday will no longer just be your t-shirt and skirt but you will be clothed with salvation and righteousness.
I will greatly rejoice in the Lord, my soul shall exult in my God; for he has clothed me with the garments of salvation, he has covered me with the robe of righteousness, as a bridegroom decks himself with a garland, and as a bride adorns herself with her jewels. Isaiah 61:10
Don’t you see, it is promised right there to us. When we rejoice in him through using the rosary, through prayer, through your example every day, your should shall be joyful in God and he will cloth you in the garments of salvation. So instead of your normal t-shirt and skirt to work tomorrow, you will be wearing the garments of salvation as well.
